Senior Engineer, Bioenergy
Job Description
Responsibilities
In charge of project portfolio form pre-feasibility stage to commissioning
Provide expertise for selecting the most feasible biomass to heat and power projects to develop further (feasibility study phase)
- Work directly with clients to understand their processes and develop the best technical solutions for their energy needs
- Define technical requirements / solution needed to fulfill client requirements (initial technical conceptual design)
- Define capital investment, fuel demand and operating cost for each project
- Feedstock requirements; liaise and coordinate with Tasma’s field research team to understand the available raw material characteristics
Assist in preparing the customer offer and purchase agreement with the client
Contract negotiations for biomass energy plants
- Preparation of RFPs for EPC contractors and other suppliers (e.g. fuel handling and transportation)
- Evaluation of proposals from technical perspective
- Contract negotiations (technical scope) and supplier selection
- Perform site inspections at selected suppliers workshop to establish quality of work
- Establish budgets for each discipline and manage budgets for internal and external resources
Project oversight and coordination
- Perform site inspections to follow project progress. Ensure that deliverable meets the requirements of the proposal
- Identify scope changes and request change orders in advance of performing work
- Track budgets and schedules
- Take necessary action in case of deficiencies or risk of project delay
Key skills/competencies/experience
Experience:
- At least 8-10 years of relevant (bio)energy experience
- Project management expertise
- Experience in estimation, proposals & costing
- Experience in commissioning and/or operating steam boilers and/or managing (biomass) power plant operations and maintenance
Competences:
- Understanding of (biomass) boiler design and combustion process
- Planning and organizing
- Problem solving & decision making
- Managing operations & information
- Ability to travel 50-70% (as necessary)
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in an engineering-related discipline (e.g. Energy technology, mechanical engineering, process engineering etc.). Bachelor will be considered if accompanied with relevant extensive experience
- Candidates must be proficient with the usage of MS-Office and CAD
- Advanced level of English, both written and spoken. South-East Asian languages are an asset, especially Bahasa Indonesia
